As it is Thanksgiving day, today is a day that many families around the United States sit down to eat, converse, and enjoy the lives they lead. I usually reflect on my personal favorite part of the holiday - pie.
When the turkey coma wears off however, many people gear up for the next event: the Black Friday/Small Business Saturday shopping weekend. Massive lines, huge sales, all night excursions to buy gifts, the markers of this event are well known throughout our communities. Issac and I have had quite a messy shop in preparation.
Some enjoy the rush, and others despise it, but the phenomenon is here to stay. We wanted to take some time to present a different mentality in regards to the monster that is Black Friday.
Consider shopping small this holiday season. Not just for a stocking stuffer, but across the board. Supporting small businesses around the country not only helps the economy, but it helps out families. Here are some stats!
According to the Small Business Administration:
- There are roughly 23 million small businesses in the U.S.
- 54% of TOTAL U.S. merchandise sales happen at a small business.
- Small businesses have created more than 8 MILLION jobs since 1980.
- It is projected that $17.8 Billion dollars will be spent on Black Friday and Small Business Saturday this year.
As the stats show, your dollars make a huge difference in the lives of small business owners and their families. From all of us at Farrow Co. we want to thank you for your continued support, as it truly does impact Issac and I, and our individual families. We encourage you to shop small this holiday season, and support the little guy!
Happy Thanksgiving y'all.
